Wildflowers

Of the total 20 acres covered by the course, roughly half is unmaintained.  These natural areas are planted with a selection of wildflowers and warm season grasses, with the purpose of providing habitat for pollinators and ground nesting birds.

The total area of irrigated turf for the Schoolhouse Nine is 1.4 acres.  In contrast, the average 18 hole course in the United States irrigates 65 acres of turf.  By using native grasses at a higher cut height for the fairways, we have drastically reduced the external inputs necessary for a healthy turf.
